Is it when a girl seemingly speaks trough their nose, sounding like a duck?
I'm not a native but this always sounds weird to me, kinda psycho.
Can you give an example on Youtube or so?
BTW, in your opinion, what's the most attractive English accent for a girl?
They're not all exactly identical, but just very high-pitched in voice. It's not even really California accent, but rather derived from the area. Each part of the US such as the Southern States, New England, and New Jersey/New York all had fairly distinct local accents a few decades ago. Mostly basing it on how older people talk (as in 40 or over). On the younger people sound similar to Hollywood actors/actresses in terms of accent. It seems like local accents have been replaced by this more generic accent. I find it annoying cause of not only the accent, but the certain use of phrases.
Women who seem like a Cali chick will say "um.. yeah" quite a bit. I briefly lived in a shared house that had 7 people, 3 who were women associated with sororities (non-residential ones) and they had similar high pitched voices (like the duck you mentioned) and said "um... yeah," "oh my god [insert some phrase]" and other bad English at least to me. Seemed like they were euphoric most of time in an annoying way, which makes sense given their privileges these days.
Southern young girl accent. A good example is Reese Witherspoon (not sure if she is southern) in the film Mud. Or you can watch Forrest Gump and listen to clips of Jennie. I also enjoy the Boston accent which is notable for being more fast spoken, but I'm speaking of any person from Boston. In other words, people there are blunt and get straight to the point and normally don't consider your feelings when talking about things bluntly. For instance, I dined with a family from Boston. One guy on left said "pass the salad" with his hand out in an almost demanding way. I wasn't offended. They're just straight shooters in conversations.
