- cold showers, no hot water
- long fasting periods
- abstention from sugar and delicacies
- abstinence from brain dead TV shows
- exposure to the cold as possible
The above as an effort to harden myself and self-penalty and self-discipline.
Cold showers are complete nonsense, and fasting is just one of many ways to control you calorie intake (I tried fasting once and felt like shit, depressed and energy drained, plus I had very unpleasant headaches which miraculously gone when I started to eat normally)
I lost more than 20kg with diet that was nothing out of ordinary - I ate all kinds of food but in moderation, that is all it takes
Staying totally away from sugar and delicacies is also counterproductive and always leads to binge eating, sooner or later (better strategy is to eat sugary food a day or two in a week or every day but in very small amount, trust these words from someone who is battling with sugar addiction)
To cut it short - self discipline start in your head you don't need fasting and cold showers for that
And that is not easy at all, that's the main reason why most people jumps in obscure diets and lifestyle - it's easier to them to adopt that shit as form of discipline, but again - without proper mindset you won't get nothing from all that on the long run, and you will be on starting position over and over again
