Self-penalty
#1
I am thinking about seriously starting the following:

- cold showers, no hot water

- long fasting periods

- abstention from sugar and delicacies

- abstinence from brain dead TV shows

- exposure to the cold as possible

The above as an effort to harden myself and self-penalty and self-discipline.

Plato, I don't see it like this.
I see it as a punishment since we are nothing , we don't deserve anything.
Nothingness is what is inside us.

I can attest you that cold showers and cold exposure are going to increase your self discipline. I made a thread about me doing cold showers, and i feel its the best thing i have tried in terms of discipline build up . Keep in mind that its not those steps you do that build the discipline itself, but its you going against your willpower / comfort zone that builds discipline . So 1 could try doing cold showers, and experience no increased discipline, and another do the same thing and notice his discipline increase.

Tbh long fasting periods sounds like a tough one, considering that we lift weights and lifting weights requieres that you consume a good amount of calories. I would suggest you try stick with just one habit at first, and then move to the next one (without replacing your new habit). If you try do all these things at the same time, you are going to feel miserable after like a week or so. So, week 1, you cut sugar/sweets. Week 2, cold showers, week 3... you get the idea.

Speak for yourself.

Maybe you have nothing inside you. Maybe you don't deserve anything.

But you can't speak for others since your consciousness does not exceed your own subjective reality. Thats an objective statement.

Cold showers are complete nonsense, and fasting is just one of many ways to control you calorie intake (I tried fasting once and felt like shit, depressed and energy drained, plus I had very unpleasant headaches which miraculously gone when I started to eat normally)
I lost more than 20kg with diet that was nothing out of ordinary - I ate all kinds of food but in moderation, that is all it takes
Staying totally away from sugar and delicacies is also counterproductive and always leads to binge eating, sooner or later (better strategy is to eat sugary food a day or two in a week or every day but in very small amount, trust these words from someone who is battling with sugar addiction)
To cut it short - self discipline start in your head you don't need fasting and cold showers for that
And that is not easy at all, that's the main reason why most people jumps in obscure diets and lifestyle - it's easier to them to adopt that shit as form of discipline, but again - without proper mindset you won't get nothing from all that on the long run, and you will be on starting position over and over again
