Quitting the Internet, News, Forums, Social media = great for the mind
#1
Over the last week, I found myself locked without Internet for most of the day. I felt great. I wouldn't say that I was more productive, but I definitely felt more relaxed.

Your mind really needs that rest. Being constantly attacked by information is no good. Notifications your brain in a nasty way. Multi-tasking is nonsense. And most of the info that reaches you is not actionable. Meaning, you can't do a thing about it. Not to mention the fake news...etc.

A state without the Internet exposes the emptiness within you.

The solution, in my opinion, is not to totally remove the net from your life. That's impossible. But to hard limit it. E.g, 1-2 hours.

Most people are addicted to smartphones.

Most men are addicted pornography. Most women are addicted to social media.

I quit joining the Net for only 3 days and the result: i was calmer and -as you say- more relaxed.

Keep using the Net IN STRICT MODERATION, even the "NattyOrNot forum".

Lyrics from a hard rock song:

Sometimes I feel
Like my mind will explode
Sometimes I feel
Like I've got no control
Sometimes I wish
I had a heart made of steel
Sometimes I wish
I couldn't feel
Information overload
Information overload
Information overload
Information overload
They say the future...it's on a microchip
Don't you know we're all on a sinking ship
Only ten percent control all the rest
Only ten percent decide what is best
Information overload
Information overload

Being addicted to ANYTHING is bad. Addiction is bad. Quit your computer or smartphone and feel free to join internet whenever you actually need to find something really useful.

Fake news are a nonsense and a half. Their purpose is to overload your poor brain with useless/harmful info and steal important time of your day.

Oh yes
I have a habit of checking the internet as soon as I get up - up to 5min to half and hour and more
When I skip that for later part of the day I immediately feel more focused and energized, not to mention days when I don't touch my laptop or phone at all (it happens sometimes)
Too much time on internet makes you fell depressed, especially social network poison
