If you live in the same city (otherwise it is worthless) 7 days in maximum. Insist on the date at at the same day.

I would say the same town or even neighborhood if the town is enormous. 

On a side note: 

I know a guy who got in a car crash after driving 3 hours for a date. His parents told him to sleep there and return the next day, but he decided to drive during the night and fell asleep at the wheel. He got lucky no one died. Spent weeks in a hospital. All for a girl that rejected him.

I am certainly not leaving my town for a date no matter what.
