Golfer's elbow
#1
Any tips on managing this? My elbows flared up again recently after weighted pull ups. Had to stop all pulling exercises. The only back exercise I'm doing now is the deadlift.

I have the following attitude towards tendonitis.

1.If it's a new injury, I try to evaluate what's causing the pain.

Usually, it's improper form increasing the stress on the area and/or high volume/high frequency that I haven't adapted to. If that's the case, I simply rest, adjust the form problems in the future and reduce the volume.

2. If it's a chronic injury, I often train through the pain and do nothing even though it's the opposite of what people recommend.

Sometimes chronic repetitive stress injuries are triggered by emotional pain rather than an actual physical problem. You can look up Dr. Sarno's work on back pain to learn more about that idea.

To reduce the stress on the area, you can do the following:

1. Reduce the frequency and/or volume.
2. Drop the weight.
3. Adjust your grip - neutral grip pull-ups and pull-ups on rings in particular are kinder to the elbow.
