The point is just how retarded is to fuck up your body so badly (not only the steroids, but destroying his joints and spine to the point of being in constant pain) just to lift some weights for a short ROM of few inches.
But this is just my opinion, not some absolute truth. The whole thing of the guys wrapped like a mummy, shaking like having a seizure to unrack the barbell, doing a very short movement and then celebrating like he won some major event looks so autistic to me nowadays.

Nobody here is saying you could't/shouldn't do that, you do whatever you want to and shouldnt care about my opinion.

Yes i did. What you see in the video is genetic elite people who do whatever it takes to succeed their goal - btw what you also see in the video is equipped powerlifting not raw powerlifting. Keep in mind, "genetic elite" does not always mean just being naturally strong or having a little bit more muscle than the average dude. Your mindset is also coded in your genetics. What you see  is people who have both genetics for strength and the right mindset/mentality . This mindset is not necessarily good btw. Its actually a form of self destruction. Its not a good mindset to have. However thats what it takes to break world records. You need to be ahead of the curve and willing to bet your own life in order to succeed (all or nothing mindset).

I do understand that from your point of  view, this looks stupid. Tbh, even to me that looks stupid (i compete in raw, in which only belt and wrist wraps are allowed). I have no experience on equipped powerlifting, never done a meet equipped nor willing to. Some people like the feeling of going rambo with a suit that allows them to lift 30% more of what they normally can.

Humans always do things that fuck up their bodies. Take a look at people eating mc donalds or smoking cigarretes . Obesity is the n2 killer, next to coronary heart disease, yet you see fat people who keep visiting fast food restaurants, because they do not care about the consequences of their actions.

I don't think these guys are "genetic elite people". They are exceling in niche competitions (non tested, heavy geared, questionable form) in the already niche sport of powerlifting.
I don't see these guys like someone who fuck their health to be UFC champion or Olympic medalist, i see them more a guy who fucks their health to beat a Guinness world record of "breaking most wood boards with headbutts in 60 seconds".

Geared powerlifting and the high number of federations killed powerlifting and made it grotesque. It will never be a big sport because it lacks major components to generate adrenaline within the average spectator, but at least in the past, it had some style. Today, I don't see it.
