You should do cardio for other health reasons, not only for fat loss
Does anyone remember TRX - haha that was nice rippoff of plain old gymnastic rings
I just checked - they charge you 150$ for basic home package, talking about robbery
I don't have nothing against suspension training, it's good and practical way to workout but you can easily make your own TRX for about 10$

"1 hour cardio is about 1,000 cal's"
"it can speed things up massively"
Hmmm... I think we may need to agree to disagree.
The issue with statements about exercise that it:
- burns calories
- stimulates your metabolism to burn additional calories during the day
- creates lean mass which then burns additional calories
is that they are actually technically correct. But I think the number of calories involved are grossly exaggerated.
If you follow scientists in this field, they will state the amount of calories burnt while exercising are so small that they will not have a significant effect on weight loss. So you are saying 1 hour jogging only burns about what 500 cal's? Not 1,000?
Opinion /fact/ in between?
1) Burns calories = true
2) Stimulates your met during the day = No idea...didn't even mention that did i?
3) Creates lean mass. Again running/cardio will not create lean mass. Lifting weights doe that to a small degree. Again.....i never mentioned this once.
To say cardio does not help in fat loss is 100% wrong though....whatever you believe
If you manage to cut your calories to say -1000 per week (which is tough going) doing 2,000 cal's burn through cardio will help. Do not mention the ther B*S* as I never once brought any of that up.

exactly..I love playing tennis, hiking and the odd run....do this not help massively with fat loss? It's an extra 2,5000 to 4,000 cal's burn instead of playing computer games...of course it helps. That's about 1lb of fat burnt off. The key words being "Not only"
Could i ruin it with a poor diet? Easy. Diet trumps exercise. But to say it has no help is 100% wrong. It's pure mathematics.
I expected a bit more on this forum . It is starting to sound like a typical youtube channel. SADLY

@jimjohnson: can we please just agree to disagree and leave it at that.
Interesting article I just read.
Fat-burning zone is a myth: How exercise and weight loss really work
" "The idea that all of a sudden when you hit this zone the fat is just being sucked out of your system is simplistic," says Christopher Breen, an exercise physiologist ... . "That completely ignores that losing or maintaining weight is basically a matter of calories in versus calories out." "
From the comments
" Weight loss is 100% diet. Google "Constrained Calorie Expenditure" for the research, but basically we burn the same amount of calories each day whether we exercise or not. We burn more calories while we exercise but then our body compensates by burning less calories throughout the day than it would have if we didn't exercise. "
"Energy stored (i.e. fat) = Energy in (i.e. food) - Energy out (largely as heat and a small amount as motion)
The vast majority of our energy is used keeping us warm - by a factor of at least 100. Hence, losing weight has almost nothing to do with exercise, and almost everything to do with what you put in your gob.
[...]
exercise will not make a significant difference to the amount of fat in your body, unless you are doing something like out-there ultra-marathons "
"Exercise is not for losing weight!!!!! nor controlling it.
[...]
You control your weight, with FOOD, not exercise.
ITS FOOD 100%. Exercise has zero to do with it."

^ " "Constrained Calorie Expenditure" ... we burn the same amount of calories each day whether we exercise or not. We burn ... calories while we exercise but then our body compensates by burning less calories throughout the day"
Ah, here is the scam. Say you do no exercise and your body burns 2,000 cal's/day just to maintain itself, and that is also what you consume. A strenuous exercise activity may actually burn 500 cal's, but that doesn't mean your body will then be in deficit 500 cal's; your body will otherwise burn 1,500 cal's for the day.
This is an example of how with regard to weight loss, the fitness industry makes claims that are technically correct, but in reality will not actually allow/cause you to lose significant amounts of weight.

Why don’t you look like a fitness model?
" Even fitness models don’t look like fitness models.
The fitness industry is about as truthful as the sideshow industry. Let’s break this down...."

Thats absolutely not true. If that was really the case there would be no obesity problem in our world simply because our bodies would adjust to the caloric increase by increasing energy expenditure, thus maintain the homeostatic 2,000cals/day. Whoever said that should seriously be shunned away from speaking . There are laws of thermodynamics that apply to our bodies. This is the reason even nutritional calculators are not always 100% correct for everyone. Different bodies, different needs. And no i am not talking about being a special snowflake, i am talking about our bodies being slightly different in terms of caloric needs and how it processes the food consumed.

^ The statement "we burn the same amount of calories each day whether we exercise or not" is not saying that your body will increase the amount of energy it needs if you consume additional calories. It is that exercise will not significantly increase the amount of calories your body uses. I need to emphasize.... significantly.

I saw this episode of American TV show 'The Doctors' today.
Even 2019, all the lies and scams of the fitness industry are still going strong.

The BIGGEST SCAM in the fitness industry
"Here is a fun fact that you probably didn’t know: MuscleMag, IronMan, Flex, Muscular Development, Muscle & Fitness, and the rest of the mainstream bodybuilding magazines are owned by supplement companies and are used simply as mouthpieces for their products."
