Things you have noticed since you got fitter?
#1
Look i am no Adonis. But for my age I can say i am almost the best i can be. Lean (12% b.f..ish) lift heavy so decent upper back, shoulders, arms, legs. Not big. But i look fit.

Here are some of the things i notice now compared to five years ago (when i hit about 22% b.f and didn't lift for about 5 years..i looked like every other bod dad out there)

  1) The double takes, the smiles off some pretty decent looking women. I am talking all ages as well. I am not used to this. It's very flattering most of the time. But what i do notice is if you do not show an instant interest back they get the hump very fast. I guess it's an ego thing?)

2) Other men "sizing me up" They probably go to the gym and/or want to get fitter. If I am sat having a coffee, walking around, eating out..i can see the looks. I presume most are admiring but some you never know. Admiration, jealousy, hate..who knows.

3) Some sheer hate. Mostly from overweight people (men and women) The looks they give me. Maybe some feel i am judging them....but i am not. Live and let live.  Maybe most see my physique and go into a "fight" response. I have comments like "oh i love me who do you love.." "Wish i could sen all day in the gym" "Real men are not so lean" "At least i can eat what i want." Without me ever saying a thing.

4) Most people seem to want me to eat s***. For some strange reason they cannot stand me not eating cake, sweets etc and try and force it down me. Some people pretty close to me have never made one comment about my transformation. Yet when i put fat on they were so quick with the negative comments. Whilst i never wanted people to worship me...i kind of did expect at least conformation from some people.

It does make me wonder say you were really fit but your partner was overweight.....what kind of conflict would result? That cannot be easy? I guess overweight parents never want fit kids trying to educate them.

5) I now notice how overweight most people are. When i go out especially when eating I see obese people all over. If not obese then over weight. Very few are lean. Very few are even at the weight they should be. I guess i have my fat goggles on now? When you are fat/overweight you hardly notice it. But now I do.

I'd hate to be a steroid abusing body builder. I could just imagine all the attention they would attract whenever they were in public. Some might love that..i'd hate it.

  Any how....anyone care to add?

1. People always ask me for fitness advice
2. Women check me out aswel, and i had women touch my chest/arms while i was talking to them. Tip : You know she is getting wet when she touches you and squeezes the muscle while she asks "wow why is this muscle so hard??? " thats a mating call Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

3. I feel better for myself, i like being strong, and i love being able to do things other people find tough - like carrying something heavy
4. Some dudes  seize me up. I have had people ask me how much i bench only to get the classic reply "i have a friend who benches more" or "i used to bench more than you" Ofcourse, i always tell them that my bench is legit bench from powerlifting competition, while their lift does not count. But yea... you get the idea

Tbh i havent received any kind of hate for being fit. Or even if i did, i would not care at all actually.

I see fat people everywhere but I never feel like I'm getting 'stared down' for being in shape. I think they mostly look at me 'longing' to just look slim like me, but lacking any sort of will power to take action.

Yeah that could be it. I am probably reading it wrong.

I remember Capetown in the summer. All those joggers on the sea front Generally a lot fitter than in the UK. Even going to the bar on Clifton Beach...I was amazed how fit most of the women were. Someone said it was very similiar to California. I can see that.

I think it's less binge drinking and generally outdoors life more than the UK...

I can recall going to Bikini beach was that Gordon's bay? Mamma mia.......HEAVEN!

Yeah......i would agree. :-) But how do you know she is getting wet? Facial expression or you actually fact finding?

I think here in cape town there are quite a lot of fitness maniacs and big guys. So nobody ever really looks at me for my natty physique I think, not sure. I noticed that women more look at me if im dressed nicely with pointy shoes and tight fitting jeans and shirt (semi professional) and a nice hairstyle (slick back) with maintained facial hair. So its that projection of success look.

Of course facial aesthetics plays a big role. Maybe they check you out if you have a developed ass or something, but I doubt they can really notice (or care) the difference between a guy with 15 inch arms and a guy with 16 inch arms for example. This one woman told me I had a nice ass but it was only after I had gotten to know her, wasn't like she just approached me out of the blue.

Yes I have noticed the envy and 'sizing up' between two lifters. Its quite annoying, normally though it doesn't happen much to myself because I'm not walking around with 18 inch arms in a wife beater seeking attention.

Most of the bra's doing the sizing up are just insecure about themselves. I used to do it a lot in highschool but hardly nowdays. I think mainly because I can spot a steroid user quite fast, so I immediately don't care. However if I come across a natty bigger than me then I often do look (no homo) in a sort of admiration or like 'wow look at what he achieved'.

Yes often people try to get me to 'indulge'. When I don't want to they act like I'm the one being difficult. Even though I'm not the one telling them what to eat or drink.

I see fat people everywhere but I never feel like I'm getting 'stared down' for being in shape. I think they mostly look at me 'longing' to just look slim like me, but lacking any sort of will power to take action.

I suppose i too am guilty of some of these. If i see a women with huge ****'s i too would probably double take, etc. Same thing. She is probably on a forum now telling everyone.  Tongue

I remember last year i was in a pub (having a coffee) and three Gym rats came in...in all their gear. But you could tell they were roiders. They were huge. I too kind of looked at them and made up my mind. I'll bet they clocked that.

Having been overweight and lean I much prefer being lean. Some people say it doesn't matter to them. IF that's the trueth good for them but it's not for me. I'll never be overweight again.

Well i can never be sure (and if i told you i was i would be a liar) but this comes from the experience i have had. To my knowledge, women never tell you upfront they are into you, they just leave hints - one hint is, obviously, if they touch you a lot. Now the squeezing part, well thats something that is usually done during sex.
Also facial experessions change during intense desire (eyes spark, flushing, giggling, shyness)

A lot of women i had a hookup with,  did this. Thats how i found out that this touching-squeezing is actually a code word for desire.

Brett is right - your general appearance is more important than how muscle you have
If you have decent clothes, neat hair, hands, teeth and face most woman won't give a shit about your abs or biceps unless you are fat pig or a midget
If you are on the beach thats another story but judging from my experience only teens and immature woman will first look how much muscles you have

I meant the "being wet part" not women 101. :-)

1) yes its an ego thing. Nowadays their ego is too inflated due to the social media, wasnt the case 15 years ago, at least not as much.
2) yes, other men will size up and even take you more serious. Heavier people are respected by default even if they are fat. People that are smaller will care about bigger guys opinion, at least at young age.
3) They are jelly and cant make themselves to go and live healthier so they will put others to the same level as them.
4) Same reason as above, they want you to mess up and get to their (lower) level so they cant feel better about themselves, some do subconsciously  due to deep insecurities while others do it on purpose.
5) You could say that you "ascended" and see the truth that the current humans health state is not right.
