Recommended daily calories - Jonesy - 02-04-2019 If anybody needed any proof as to how society intentionally deceives the masses look no further than the recommended daily calories they put on the back of food products. At least in Britain, the official advice is 2500 calories for men and 2000 for women, on average. But what a load of bollocks. 2500 calories is a lot of food. If you eat three times a day that equates to over 800 calories a meal. So like 8 rounds of toast for breakfast, or two cheese burgers and regular fries from macdonalds for lunch, then a similar sized meal for dinner. How is anyone supposed to be lean, fit and healthy on that advice? Why do they do it I wonder? I assume that is the maximum recommended but society knows that if the peasants eat more they spend more in this new age of self indulgence. Can't have society consuming only 1000 calories worth of junk a day. That won't line the pockets of the big businesses that keep the economy afloat. Makes you wonder, if they can lie about how much food you should put in your body, what else do they lie about? A 5'10 man who weights 210 lbs (no muscle) is now considered average today. When I walk down in the business district of NY I see lots of men like like. Guy in suit at 5'8-5'10 (taller guys seem to be a healthier weight) and a roundish mid section that even the tight suit can't hide. Basically, this means that to maintain these overweight amounts requires a higher average daily intake. So maybe the world's top nutritionists have taken a statistical average on the male weight (which is overweight) and than based the calorie intake equation on that. Or perhaps these numbers are based on strength athletes who used steroids, but steroids is forgiving when it comes to eating excess calories, whereas a natural it's not and just leads to more fat. But still they claim that this maintenance amount is same for both steroid and non-steroid users. Idk for certain these are just guesses. Each person will have slightly different calorie needs, but for me personally, 6'1 185 lbs, I only need about 2200 calories to stay at same weight. I've been eating this amount for about 2 months. Scale says same thing each day. When building muscle I will go no higher than 2700. RE: Recommended daily calories - jimjohnson - 02-05-2019 They panda to the masses...I too think 2,500 for the average man is ridiculous....more like 1,800 Walk around the UK.....80% are fat....25%+ are obese...job done! 6'1 185 lbs, I only need about 2200 calorie -------------------------------------------------- i work on a rule of thumb 27 cal's per inch in height for a man....roughly... me 67.5 = 1,822 you: 1971 ...not saying it is 100% accurate RE: Recommended daily calories - locutus24 - 02-08-2019 (02-05-2019, 02:14 PM)jimjohnson Wrote: They panda to the masses...I too think 2,500 for the average man is ridiculous....more like 1,800Interesting. Maybe I'll try doing 1971 calories for the next couple weeks. I'll let you know if I do and I'll tell you the what the scale says. RE: Recommended daily calories - Plato - 02-09-2019 I need somewhere between 2,300 RE: Recommended daily calories - Simple Simon - 02-13-2019 http://www.msn.com/en-au/health/nutrition/the-equation-that-proves-how-many-calories-you-should-be-eating/ar-BBT92oh?ocid=mailsignout "... the minimum amount of energy mandated to keep your body barely functioning, i.e. breathing and pumping blood. For men, the equation is as follows: 10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (y) + 5. The equation is slightly different for women: 10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (y) – 161." RE: Recommended daily calories - jimjohnson - 02-17-2019 The point is it's a lot less than many want to believe. At about 1,600 a day we would all look super lean and ripped....The problem is 1,600 a day is not a lot and leaves virtially no wriggle room. 1 creamy, chocolate drink is about 400. No room for sweets, booze etc. 1 big meal is about 1,200 If anyone seen a full grown man eating 1,600 a day they would think they had something wrong with them. RE: Recommended daily calories - Navigator - 02-17-2019 Also people are much more less active today in these modern times No less than 100 years ago most of population toiled in fields and factories almost all day and was engaged in hard physical labor RE: Recommended daily calories - impatient_undertaker - 03-26-2019 (02-17-2019, 01:03 PM)jimjohnson Wrote: The point is it's a lot less than many want to believe.1600 is bordering a starvation even for an average male. At first one could look ripped, but sooner or later he would start wasting away. Anecdotally, I'm 181cm and 71kg and I loose weight if below 2600 kcal. Outside of 4 short 30 minutes ressistance trainings and couple of 20 minutes walks a week I have no other physical activities. My metabolism isn't super fast either, I gain fat easily if I overeat. Considering that I am on a rather lanky spectrum of skeleton thickness, I can believe that 2500 kcal for an average male is OK. RE: Recommended daily calories - TheNaturallyEnhancedTruth - 07-06-2019 2500 for men, 2000 for women. And let's not forget, youtube natties:4000 for maintenance, 3000 when cutting. |
